A Dreamy Garden Wedding Deep in the Heart of Sintra

Áine & Eamon

July 2023

The keywords for these two lovebirds were: relaxed, outdoors, casual. Nothing too formal — they were bringing their family and friends all the way from Ireland and they wanted everyone to have a good time.

And what a good time it was! The day started sunny and bright, and gave way into a gorgeous hot afternoon and a lovely, warm summer evening, just as the party started.

Áine finished getting ready at their beautiful wedding venue, Camélia Gardens, surrounded by the lush greens and dappled light of Sintra, while Eamon made his way to the venue later, with all their guests.

While guests mingled with welcome drinks and much-needed shade, the couple signed the legal paperwork, but the real fun started right after, as their older daughter walked down the aisle as a flower girl to the sound of a string quartet, followed by Áine, between her father and their younger daughter. This would set the mood just right for a romantic ceremony filled with a deep sense of family and love.

The outdoors theme flowed into everything on this day — from the stunning wildflowers in every colour of the rainbow to the sunlight catching on the glasses, which were the highlights on the tablescapes; the vintage rugs and rattan cocktail furniture giving children a place to play and adults somewhere to sit around and chat; the fairylights up above creating a sense of magical and cosiness; the stationery adorned with real flowers to bring everything together.

While the ceremony took place on the shaded Portuguese cobble terrace, and the cocktail in the garden, the dinner itself was right in front of the venue’s 19th century revivalist house, on its gorgeous tree-lined lawn. Speeches, drinks and good food kept the relaxed atmosphere alive until evening gave way to night. And Áine and Eamon know how much music can set the tone for a party: theirs started with the help of indie rock band The Last Cigarette, followed by a drumming and dance performance by Asociación Mudarte that got everyone up on their feet, and of course, a DJ after that, to keep the party going until the wee hours.

With their good vibes, sunglasses on and ready-to-party attitude, Áine and Eamon were the picture of effortlessly cool and chic. The photographs really do speak for themselves…
